Panoramic X-Ray - Orthoralix 9200 DDE by Gendex® In 1995, the company DXIS produced the first dental digital panoramic X-rays system available on the market, which was introduced by Signet (France). The goal was to retrofit all the existing Panoramic X-Ray models. Panoramic radiographs were developed by dentists to visualize the entire upper (maxilla) and lower (mandibula) jaws including the teeth, maxillary sinuses, and the nasal cavity. An Orthopantomogram (OPT) or Dental Panoramic Radiograph (DPR), also known as an "orthopantogram" or "panorex", is a panoramic scanning dental X-Ray of the upper and lower jaw. It shows a two-dimensional view of a half-circle from ear to ear. An OPT relies on tomography, i.e. images of specific radiographic planes are taken to compose a larger panoramic image. |
Forming the image The patient bites on a plastic spatula so that all the teeth, and especially the crowns, can be viewed individually. The whole process takes about a minute. (The patient's actual radiation exposure time varies between 5.5 and 22 seconds for the machine’s excursion around the skull) Source : Wikipédia |
